Commercial Heating Systems
What you need to know about commercial heating systems
While home heating systems are important, commercial heating systems are too, especially since they can be very expensive if they’re not efficient. If you’re looking to heat your place of business, it’s important to choose a heating system that will save energy to the greatest possible extent. You may consider geothermal heating or even solar heating for large buildings, but there are cheaper options for commercial heating, as well.
Choosing a Commercial Heating System
Commercial heating and cooling systems come in four different versions:
- Natural gas or oil and water systems
- Natural gas or oil and steam systems
- Heating pump or radiation systems
- Natural energy systems
Pricing commercial HVAC systems for your business can be tricky. Start by interviewing several commercial heating manufacturers first. They should be able to provide information on heating systems they have already installed as well as estimates of what you can expect to pay. Choosing a system that is easy to repair and maintain is important. Also, consider what furnace maintenance will cost for your office building. That, along with the energy consumption rates, should help you decide the best commercial HVAC system for you. Choose an HVAC contractor for your business by:
- Pricing other manufacturers and finding out if they do the business and installation themselves or if they outsource it to subcontractors.
- Ask for references and screen the contractor carefully before choosing anyone.
- Provide each candidate with detailed information on exactly what you need done. Be detailed and don’t be afraid to ask questions. You will be living with this HVAC system – make sure it’s installed right.
- Make sure to draw up a contract. Have a lawyer ready for this step to ensure that everything is done correctly.
A good idea before buying a commercial heating system is to look at how much it will cost you over the next few years. While a more energy-efficient system will cost more in the beginning, your savings over time will pay for the system and it will last longer than a traditional radiator/steam system that can break down or leak easily.
Choosing a commercial system can be daunting, but with the right HVAC contractor to do the work for you, it becomes an easier task indeed.
